Internet Resources for K-12 Educators
Found here are a variety of web sites that may be useful to the K-12 classroom teacher. Many of the web sites were found in issues of the Scout Report, The Internet Scout Project. The Internet Scout Project, located in the Computer Sciences Department at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, provides Internet publications and software to the research and education communities under grants from the National Science Foundation, the Andrew W. - ALA/ALSC Great Web Sites for Kids
- This list of sites created by librarians are fun to visit and many of them are educational. They are easy to navigate, have clearly identified authoring sources, and make effective use of the Internet to create unique, interactive experiences.

- Offers free resources for teaching civics and United States history.
- Cool Tools for Schools
- A great listing of Web 2.0 tools to use in the classroom.
- Disney Online
- A great place for web-based activities. Bill Nye the Science Guy is featured.
- Education World
- This site is advertised as the Educator's Best Friend. Provides thousands of resources linked to state standards.
- Educator's Reference Desk
- Created by the Institute of Syracuse, this website contains lesson plans and links to online education information.
- Federal Resources for Educational Resources
- Free publications from the U.S. government.
- The Gateway to Educational Materials
- Provides access to quality lesson plans, curriculum units, and other educational information.
- Harvard’s Web Sites for Educators
- This site is a list of various web sites such as sites concerning guidance and counseling, curriculum, distance education, diversity, and education associations and organizations.
- Highlights' TeacherNet
- Advertised as the premier online community for K-8 educators.
- Kahn Academy
- With a library of over 2,400 videos covering everything from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history and 125 practice exercises, we're on a mission to help you learn whatever you want, whenever you want, at your own pace.

- Resources for teachers.
- Kentucky Teacher Online
- This publication features articles that provide descriptive narratives about successful classroom practices, information about resources, recognition of outstanding efforts and more. News items are posted regularly. In addition to the features you’re accustomed to seeing in the previous print edition, the Web publication of Kentucky Teacher offers photo slideshows, digital archives, RSS feeds, the opportunity to comment on features stories and photos, and more.

- A collection of materials that this teacher has developed over the years. Materials are free.
- Math Open Reference
- A free interactive math textbook on the web. Initially covering high-school geometry.
- National Geographic Society's Educational Materials
- Part of National Geographic's mission is to encourage geography education for students. This web site provides links to stories and related activities from around the globe.
- Ohio Resource Center
- ORC enhances teaching and learning by promoting standards-based best practices in mathematics, science, and reading for Ohio schools and universities. ORC serves as a trusted source of easily accessible, peer-reviewed, high-quality, and effective resources.
- PBS Teacher Resources
- This site allows access to an unbelievable amount of lesson plans and activities for all subjects and grade levels. It also has the option for many of the subjects to do the activities online or offline and gives sites for each.
- Pete’s Power Point Station
- A collection of free presentations in Microsoft Power Point format. One of the best resources for free, Internet-based teaching tools.
- Roller Coaster Physics
- Try your hand at designing your own roller coaster. You will be building a conceptual coaster using the physics concepts that are used to design real coasters. You won't need to compute any formulas.
- Science Fair Project Resource Guide
- This section from the Internet Public Library links you with numerous sites that provide ideas, resources, and other information about science projects.
- ReadWriteThink.org
- A partnership of the International Reading Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Verizon Foundation, ReadWriteThink.org will help you turn reading and language arts theory into best classroom practices
- Simthsonian Institution Learning Resources
- This site is a gateway to multiple education resources offered by the Smithsonian.

- TeacherLINK, an online teacher resource for public educators and students, is provided as a free public service by the Adele and Dale Young Education Technology Center and Utah State University's College of Education and Human Services.
